Bee Cave is a working-class community that was named by the early settlers for the large cave filled with wild bees located near the site. As of the year 2000 there were 656 residents of Bee Cave living in 207 households. Today, that number has grown significantly and recent census reports state that the current population is more than 5,000. The majority of residents who live in this neighborhood are married couples with 34.8% of the population being between the ages of 25 and 44. The community is located in West Austin, which is considered to be the wealthy part of Austin.
